Thank You David and Tamara!

Honorary Lifetime Memberships Bestowed by The Whole Life Network

Whole Life Network Release

We say the words "Thank You" every day. The words are fleeting and, while meaningful to the recipient, we seldom feel as if our true deep meaning has been properly conveyed. The Board of Directors of The Whole Life Network has created a process to show our gratitude to those who have demonstrated uncommon service to our network. The status of Honorary Lifetime Membership has been established and the first ever to be singled out for this recognition are David Hauze and Tamara Switzer.

Anyone who has ever attended an event sponsored by The Whole Life Network is sure to have been entertained by the musical talent of David and Tamara Hauze, which is the name under which they perform professionally. There hasn't been, in anyone's memory, a Whole Life and Learning Expo or a Symposium in which David and Tamara were not contributing their music to assist the program. They always have been there for us, creating the perfect atmosphere for the occasion from prayerful meditation to joyful celebration. And after it was over, they received our heartfelt "thank you". Now, it is our turn to give back more for all of those years of unselfish contribution of their professional ability and their personal time.

The story of their involvement with our network goes back to about 1994. At that time Rev. Kay Spinden of The Center of Religious Science in Delta was in the process taking over a struggling congregation in the Montrose area. She met David Hauze at a service in Paonia and invited him to assist her in her church. It was explained to David that there was no budget for music at that time, but, characteristically, David replied " I just want to use my music to send our message of wholeness and oneness". As if from a novel, it happened that Tamara Switzer began to attend the church services in which David was performing with harp, flute and, later, with guitar. They began to perform as a duo and, eventually, they found that they had much more in common than their music. It developed that Evan, grandson of Rev. Kay, requested that David give him guitar lessons. The lessons have led to a life of music for Evan, who is now enrolled in college and is majoring in a course in music education. From this initial teaching experience, David has gone on to teach music instrumentation to other youngsters. Along with Brenda Suiter, David and Tamara have formed a group called "Oneders". Yes, there is no 'W". As you would imagine, the families are full of musical talent, and, when their offspring are performing, they are called "The Sons of The Oneders". That brings us to the present time, a time when David and Tamara are enjoying much deserved professional recognition for their music, both in the writing and in the performing. They have issued two CD's which merit our attention: A Deeper You and The Miracle Inside. The title songs of both of these CDs were written by David. You will be soulfully entertained by the beautiful voices of David and Tamara, whether solo or in duets.

The following sentiments found on the album cover of The Miracle Inside, summarize the spirit and current life of these two beautiful souls.

"Our Deepest Gratitude…

... to the Sure Hand of God, ever present, gently guiding us through this magnificent journey.

...to Kay and Del Wiesner for their financial contribution and loving support of this project and our vision. their generous way of life is an inspiration to us all.

...to Ursula Hauze, our loving mom and tireless cheerleader, for her encouragement and continuous prayers and support.

...to Bill Wood for his awesome creation and gift of the Native American flute used on "Brother Warrior".

...to our Spiritual family at the Center of Religious Science in Delta, Colorado for continuous love and encouragement.

...to all those who have come before us, who have inspired and uplifted us, giving us life more abundantly."

Congratulations to David and Tamara, the first Honorary Lifetime Members of The Whole Life Network.

Dreaming Kevin: The Path to Healing

by Carla Blowey

Published by Infinity Publishing.Com     dreamingkevin.com or buybooksontheweb.com

A Book Review by Lane Mills

All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.

~Edgar Allan Poe

Dreaming Kevin is a book which changes lives with healing words.

An uncommon literary offering, Dreaming Kevin distinguishes its author, Carla Blowey, by having the impact upon readers she intends. Her treatment of universal themes such as loss, bereavement, forgiveness, acceptance and love is poetic realism. Dreaming Kevin reads like the first novel of a writer in the American journalistic tradition as it recounts the elements of a human tragedy with sometimes surprising objectivity.

It is at once passionate, graphic, horrifying. nurturing and life-affirming. Blowey grabs the reader's attention by the throat and heart from the first spirit-chilling paragraph of this her epistle to parents who have experienced the ultimate nightmare - the loss of a child.

The story details the factual and emotional events related to the death of Kevin, 5, beloved son of Stann and Carla Blowey, and cherished brother of Amber Blowey (to whom the book is dedicated). Needing to understand the loss of her son, Carla pursues her answers through her dreams. Her journey to the innermost recesses of her spirit - to the heart of humanity and God - is detailed with candor and awe. The lessons of love central to the story, which Blowey relates with great understanding, carry seeds of healing. Blowey is generous with her talent for description in passages involving her dreams while maintaining the integrity of a reliable, honest witness.

Dreaming Kevin is a precious contribution to the literature of self healing from a teacher imparting a clear message of hope to all humankind, but especially to those who have endured the loss of faith and sanity which often accompanies bereavement. I await Blowey’s next offering with anticipation and impatience.

(Carla Blowey will be presenting "Dreams: A Blessing in Disguise for Grieving Parents" at the 27th Annual Compassionate Friends Conference in Hollywood, CA, July 30-August 1, Visit www.dreamingkevin.com)

Herbal First Aid

© Anne Calzada, Herbalist

Summertime. Everyone wants to be outside playing and doing what he or she enjoys. The sun is high and spirits are up. Along with the joy of summer, there are also opportunities for mishaps. Herbs and natural remedies are handy to have when these minor emergencies arrive. It is a good idea to have a first aid kit available to you when traveling or simply being at home. Here are some remedies that can assist in minor instances:

For shock and trauma, always have rescue remedy on hand. It is a vibrational flower essence blend of five flowers that is helpful when someone has been injured. It is calming and will help to soothe the nervous system. It is indicated for shock, trauma, panic, and general distress.

It is great to have homeopathic Arnica when you have sprained, strained, bruised or overextended your muscles. It is anti-inflammatory and reduces swelling at the site of pain. Arnica is also available as an external oil, liniment, cream or salve.

If there has been nerve damage or pain, homeopathic St. John's Wort is essential. It is anti-inflammatory to nerve endings and can be quite helpful to take along with Arnica as well.

For common cuts, scrapes, bruises, insect bites and wounds, an herbal salve is beneficial. Salves are antiseptic, soothing, moisturizing, wound healing and help to prevent scars. Apply them after the wound site has been cleaned.

Tea tree essential oil is applied directly on the skin in cases of scrapes, cuts, insect bites, infections, fungal infections and even acne! It is antiseptic, anti-fungal, anti-viral and great for cleansing cuts.

Lavender essential oil is helpful for burns, scrapes, bug bites and wounds. It can be applied directly to wounds to clean them out. It is antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and calming to the nervous system. A dab of Lavender on each temple, behind the neck or simply inhaling it is helpful for relieving headaches. It is soothing and helpful for insomnia, stress and anxiety.

Aloe Vera gel is soothing when you have burned your skin. Add a few drops of Lavender essential oil into it and apply as needed. Aloe contains cell-regenerating properties to speed up the healing process. It can help to soothe the pain and reduce the chance for infections and scarring. Taking a bath infused with Aloe is helpful for burns.

Echinacea tincture is anti-viral, anti-fungal and is a great herbal anti-biotic. It supports the immune system by producing white blood cells that attack microbes and invaders. It can be used externally or internally as well. For the beginning of illness or cleansing cuts.

Rashes are caused by many different sources but for poison ivy, oak or sumac, homeopathic rhus tox works wonders. In general try applying Lavender, Tea tree or Chamomile essential oil on the rash may help.

Take homeopathic Sulfur, this remedy is anti-inflammatory and soothes allergenic skin reactions.

Try bathing in oatmeal or baking soda.

Charcoal capsules are made from carbon. It has the ability to absorb toxins that are 40 times its size and prevent poisons from entering the bloodstream. It is effective internally for food poisoning, flatulence, and diarrhea. It is available at health food stores. When poisoning occurs, please call the poison control center immediately. These are a few natural remedies, which will enhance any first aid kit.

Always seek medical attention when necessary. Follow the directions on the bottles of these remedies and use appropriate guidelines. Most important of all have loads of fun and joy this summer!!

Dea's Kitchen: Spring harvest …

... the sweet and the tart of it

by Dea Jacobson

While not all our gracious readers have the pleasure of a backyard or kitchen garden, many do. And even it you don't, spring and early summer produce is now at its healthiest and freshest. Peas of all kinds are becoming available, and their use is so versatile. Straight from the garden, precious little green peas are divinely delicate in flavor. However, soon after harvest, their sugar content converts to starch and this lusciousness begins to fade. Snow peas and sugar snap peas retain their flavor longer, protected by their pods. W hen buying them at the store, look for firm, squeaky pods. According to Rebecca Wood's New Whole Foods Encylopedia, my main reference for this month's article, peas, with or without pods, reduce pitta and kapha, and are medicinal for the liver, stomach, spleen and pancreas. They are high in vitamins A and B- complex, and a good source of calcium and potassium. Pea blossoms and new growth can be snipped and tossed into salads and the pods put into soup stock - nothing need be wasted!

Another abundant green veggie now is spinach. I favor fresh spinach in salads, stir fries, omelets and quiches, and never use frozen or canned. which tend to be limp and overcooked. Spinach supports the functions of large intestine, stomach and liver and can be useful in easing constipation for frail and elderly people. It is not recommended for those with loose stools or urinary incontinence. Also, those prone to kidney or gall stones should eat spinach sparingly, as it has high amounts of oxalic acid. Higher in protein than most vegetables, it has vitamin C, carotene, calcium and phosphorus. Although it has some iron, as do all leafy greens, Rebecca points out that it is not as high in iron as Popeye would have us think! Also, when cooking spinach don't use aluminum pots or serve it on silver, as it discolors the metal.

Now, the word "tart" in the title refers to rhubarb. A spring fruit, ready months before the orchard fruits, it is a seasonal favorite for its puckery tartness. Who can resist a strawberry rhubarb crisp, hot from the oven, with vanilla ice cream on top? Here's a recipe, adapted from the Moosewuud Cookbook. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Cut up 2 pounds fresh rhubarb stalks into 1” chunks. Slice and add 3-4 cups strawberries and 1/3 - 1/2 cup sweetening. Place the fruit in a 9" square pan and sprinkle the sweetening over it. For the topping, combine in a bowl, 1 cup each of rolled oats and flour, 2-3 teaspoons brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, a dash of allspice and nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon salt and 5 tablespoons of melted butter. Sprinkle this over the fruit and bake for 35-40 minutes. Yummy!

Rhubarb can be frozen without any processing and used year round, but it is only available fresh in the stores in springtime. In some of our higher altitude communities, it should still be available from the garden. When shopping, choose deeply colored, thinner stalks, as they are more tender. Before cooking, cut off the dried ends.

Need to know more about this unusual fruit? Well, it has vitamin C and A, and tannin, which is what makes your mouth pucker up. Its leaves are poisonous, and it is high in oxalic acid. So, like spinach, certain folks should avoid it. It is excellent for detoxifying after eating too much meat, or for cleansing the liver.

A tea can be made of 1/2 stalk of rhubarb. Cut it into chunks and simmer with 2 cups of pure water in a stainless steel pot for 5 minutes. Take it off the heat and steep it for 5 minutes with a teaspoon of dried mint or chamomile. Add a little honey, if you must (it is more effective straight), and sip 20 minutes before breakfast.

  Be Healthy!

A friend reminds me that shadows aren't bad things - We all have them - They are not us, merely reflections.

The size of our shadows are defined by the direction and elevation of the light. Now, if the light should come in low across the horizon, it would illuminate those parts of us that are still small - stretching that shadow a long way down the road in front of us - Our shadows, too can hide when our eyes are full of clouds, blocking the Blue from the truth of this Day...Then there are times when the sun is Blazing high in the sky, and you can't find your shadow at All - So Dance with the Sun and play with your shadows.

Peaceful Contributions for the Soul

by Kathy Gates

June: A time when the earth is beginning to show it's strong life force. A time when we can get more imaginative and more clear on what really matters. And when we know what's important and where we want to go in our lives. We will get there! Focus, clarity and intention are powerful forces in our lives.

This meditation practice is for personal growth, helping us to focus on our strengths. (Do not drive while meditating.)

Take a few deep breaths, remembering this is the life force. Moving in and out of our bodies. As you breath in begin to relax each part of your body from toe to head. On the out breath let go of any tension or stress that you may feel as you move up your body.

Do this until you feel relaxed. Once you are feeling a sense of peace and calm meditate on these questions:

*What are my talents? Listen to your inner voice, pay attention to what it tells you. Ask yourself what am I good at? Once again listen to your inner voice. See yourself as the talent or talents. What gifts come from your talents? See yourself as the gift or gifts. How does your gift make others feel? How does it make you feel?

*What are my strengths? When some answers to the questions begin to arise, meditate on the answers. What comes up when you do this?

Did the meditation inspire you to explore any particular area of your life more deeply? Take a few deep breaths and slowly come back at your own pace. Allow yourself time to remember what came through. Get a journal or notebook and write down your thoughts or feelings. It is a powerful tool for helping to create the world you like.

This helps to express truth through form and also helps us all to totally love and give our all to some high ideal. To manifest the beauty and order of our lives.

Peace and blessings - Love is the answer.

More on meditation to come …

Towards An Aquarian Age

by Louis Acker

Jupiter

Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system and has a mass greater than all the other planets of the solar system combined. In astrology Jupiter is also associated with everything big. In astrological tradition Jupiter is called the greater benefic because His Energy is the most favorable and auspicious of all-astrological influences. Jupiter's influence is associated with prosperity, growth, expansion, increase, benevolence, forgiveness, and spiritual protection. It is true that Jupiter brings good fortune on a practical level but this is because Jupiter's influence is primarily spiritual and is associated with such qualities as good will, kindness, compassion, wisdom, understanding, and the ability to see the big picture or spiritual overview. These qualities further cooperation and where there is enough cooperation anything is possible.

Jupiter rules Sagittarius and the ninth house and also co-rules Pisces and the twelfth house with Neptune, and is exalted in Cancer. Jupiter is associated with any codification of collective experience such as expressed through religion, higher education, philosophy, law, and history. Jupiter can mean expanding horizons in a literal sense in terms of travel to other parts of the country or world for purposes of business, pleasure, education, and spiritual pilgrimage.

Jupiter's sign position, house position, and aspects in the birth horoscope show major ways in which we attract growth and good fortune into our lives. Transits and progressions made by or to Jupiter show current opportunities for increase, good fortune and gaining spiritual insight. All astrological influences can have a negative or perverted expression as well as a positive expression. In the case of Jupiter this comes in the form of excessiveness or taking too much fore granted and sometimes as hypocritical or overly dogmatic beliefs. Jupiterean concern with attitudes and seeing the big picture can sometime lack focus due to ignoring or glossing over details.

Jupiter will always bring good fortune and blessing to anyone whose motivations are good and who is sincerely doing the best they can in an unselfish way. Jupiter helps us to understand and be motivated by what is in the greatest good for all concerned in any situation. This attitude creates good fortune because it attracts the cooperation and assistance of others.

What is Our Basic Function as Human Beings?

by Dr. Jerry Overton

As a both a student and teacher of A Course in Miracles, I’m constantly confronted with one of it’s core teachings, which is that our only function as human beings is to be happy. I find that to be very comforting. And then it goes on to say that such happiness comes only from fully claiming the Truth of ourselves, which is that we are created and remain whole, complete, and at one with one another. That’s it! There’s nothing more.

At first glance, fulfilling our function sounds very simple-and thus should be very easy. Ah, but therein lies the rub. It IS simple and yet, rarely easy!

It’s simple in that all that we have to do is to accept and fully claim the Truth of ourselves, and then we will most assuredly fulfill our function and live in happiness and peace.

And yet, it’s rarely easy because most of us so often forget that all important Truth. Instead, we tend to believe that we’re really less than whole and complete, and, because we live in separate bodies, we see ourselves as separate from one another. And as bodies, we experience ourselves as vulnerable to the various limitations of the body, which causes fear to rise. In fear, rather than looking inside to the Truth, we begin to look outside ourselves for sources, like other people, our position in life, things, events, and numerous other sources that we think can meet all those perceived needs for security, power, control, affection, approval, inclusion, and a host of others.

Then, when those sources fail us, as they most often do, we have grievances against those sources, which in turn, add further “proof” to our notions that we are vulnerable, separate, and at odds with one another, undermining the memory of the Truth of ourselves. Forgetting the Truth of ourselves and armed with so many grievances, it’s all but impossible to fulfill our function of being happy.

However, all is not lost. For there is a tool we can use to bring us back to the Truth of ourselves so that we can live in happiness and peace. It’s called forgiveness, which in this context is not so much about forgiving others for aggrieving us by not meeting our perceived needs, as it is about forgiving ourselves for forgetting that we’re already whole and complete, actually needing nothing from them.

As we forgive ourselves for our lapse in memory, we can once again claim this all-important Truth, which lessens our compulsion to look outside ourselves for our source of happiness, and allows us to turn loose of our grievances. From this new place of Truth, we can look within to find the happiness and peace which has always been there.

Like I said, fulfilling our function is very simple---as simple as remembering the Truth of ourselves. And yet, it’s just that challenging and difficult, too. For we are constantly tempted to think of ourselves as less than whole and complete, and thus in need of others to make us so.

And that’s where we go astray. For no one else can make us whole or complete-or happy and at peace! And believe me, I know how hard that is to accept. For I spent much of my life expecting someone else (usually an attractive woman!) to make me happy, whole, and complete-and was always disappointed! For no matter how beautiful they were, or smart or sexy or creative or gracious, they just couldn’t give me what I really wanted. Finally, after sitting for a year in the silence of a little cabin in Ouray, it dawned on me that I could only find that within myself, where it truly resides. And I can find it there by constantly practicing forgiveness whenever I forget the Truth of myself.

So, the question is this: are you finally ready to fulfill your function of happiness in your life? Are you ready to accept the Truth of yourself? Are you willing to turn loose of all those other sources to which you’ve looked, and only look within? Are you willing to practice forgiveness whenever you forget? If so, then happiness will most assuredly be yours.

If not, then…...well you know what to expect!

Whole Life Network Business Member Profile

Louis Acker: Astrologer and Meditation Bells

Whole Life Network Release

Louis Acker has an extensive background in parapsychology, paraphysics, yoga, meditation, Eastern philosophies, occult studies and UFO research. He has developed theories as to the operating laws which link the material world with the psychic and spiritual dimensions of existence. He relates sacred geometry to how the vibratory energy of the universe creates form and substance.

A renowned astrologer and author of Astrologers Handbook, Louis announces a three day weekend workshop entitled, The Age of Aquarius. This event will take place at Women's Spirit Retreat in Cedaredge, Colorado on July 9, 10, and 11. The workshop will begin with a presentation of fundamentally important concepts of vibration as the creative power in the universe. This will facilitate an understanding of the interface or connection between dense physical and psychic and spiritual levels of existence. Concepts such as the simultaneous nature of time or eternal now will be made understandable.

The second part of the presentation will be an introduction to astrology. At any point in time and space, such as the birth of an individual, the vibratory energies coming from every part of the universe create a unique hologram pattern which conditions the quality and future development of any entity begun at that time and place. The workshop will provide important insights and information from a variety of sources as to the major challenges and opportunities of the formative next ten years between now and 2012.

The entire range of UFO phenomena will be addressed. This will include group participation in telepathic contact exercises and sky watches. Workshop participants will be encouraged to share and discuss their own UFO experiences.

The workshop will be interspersed with meditations, guided visualization and remote viewing exercises. Personal astrology readings will be available with Louis Acker prior to or after the workshop by telephone or in person. An audio tape and a copy of the birth chart are included. Limited space is available. Call now for package pricing, (970) 252-0600 or (970) 856-7665.
