Annual Membership Event November 22
Connections Release
Our annual membership event is one of the most important
focal points of the year.
During the annual meeting, members elect the board of
directors, discuss vision and suggestions for direction for
the Whole Life Network for 2003, celebrate the past year’s
accomplishments, and enjoy each others company. A pot luck
dinner will be held at 6 pm (beverages provided) with the
business meeting following.
The Whole Life Network’s mission, through the events it
sponsors, is to be a stronger connection for the people in our
close and in our extended communities. Coming together, we
strengthen our community’s voice and we support our extended
community’s concerns and actions.
This year’s event will celebrate our successes of the past
year and stimulate new ideas for the new year. The upcoming
year is filled with new possibilities. We extend our heartfelt
invitation to all who would like to participate in creating
these community events.
The Whole Life Network’s first community function is to be
an open platform for people to utilize. People in our
community come to the Connections paper with articles on
education and information that they feel will enrich us
all.
Leading by example, Stephanie Yeh pitched in by designing
our new tree logo, and Julia Gillett and Esther Lail are
blazing new trails by coordinating our first annual Holiday
Boutique coming Dec. 7 in Montrose. See the ad on Page 2.
This paper will continue to develop into one of the most
valuable community CONNECTIONS with your input. If you have
articles or advertising you would like everyone to be aware
of, e-mail original articles to Lane Mills at
PyrFlye@Yahoo.com, and, to advertise, to support our community
voice, please contact Marilynn Huseby at 970-252-1040.
The Whole Life and Learning Expo that’s held at the
beginning of each year was co-created with much love by Joshua
Hayward and Ester Lail. We are so grateful for such a
successful gathering of our Western Slope community. This next
year we are considering conducting the event in Delta,
Colorado. We are reaching out for your input on this location
change decision, and invite you to share your heart and ideas
toward the continuing success of this resourceful event.
All the Petals of the Rose was a spirited and heart-warming
event. Evan Hodkins and Dr. Judith Boice directed us to a
deeper experience of vision and healing for our community and
our world.
The greatest rewards in continuing to create these events
are seen in the eyes and smiles of each person as they come
together in the richness and expanding truth that together we
do create a better world.
So come to our membership gathering - bring your hearts,
hands, and ideas to share in the creation of the new year.
Join Us! Enjoy!

Meditations: Soapbox of the President
By Larry Lemser
It was just last month that I stated in this column 2002
was a year of transition in The Whole Life Network. That was
before we were informed Transitional Times, the host tabloid
of our newsletter, Connections, had published their last
issue. Now we have experienced still another transition - the
return of our monthly newsletter to it's original
free-standing status.
I remember vividly the meeting at the beginning of the year
in which the board decided to include our newsletter as part
of another publication. At the time it was felt there would be
three distinct advantages to this change. 1). We would be able
to control the rising costs of Connections. 2). The increased
distribution would give us an introduction to more potential
members. And, 3). Our members would enjoy the additional
articles that were available in the larger publication.
There were down sides to this change also. We really did
suffer from a weakening of our individuality. A few of our
members were bold enough to protest this weakening, but, for
the most part, the board heard very little in the way of
dissatisfaction.
With the October return to the previous format we have
ended our seven month experiment and have made some other
design and composition changes. How do you like the new logo
of The Whole Life Network? I know that everyone will
appreciate not having to open the big white envelope to get to
their copy of Connections. For you Business Members we have a
new advertising rate structure. What are your reactions to our
new Connections? Let us hear from you. We will be happy to
print a Letter To The Editor.
What is the future of Connections? Our lofty ambition is to
become the voice on the Western Slope for the alternative
health community. And it certainly won't hurt to champion some
environmental issues along the way. So our work will be one
month at a time and we will build on 14 years of representing
you, the membership of The Whole Life Network.
